Just completed season one and two of the Golden Kamuy . What a brilliant brilliant anime. At its heart is young Asirpa - a blue-eyed member of the ethnic Ainu people of northern Japan. She teams up with run away soldier 'Immortal Sugimoto' to find some lost gold...gold that her mysterious and estranged father had hidden away. Along the way they meet a rag tag bunch of criminals, double crossing soldiers, former samurai and all sorts of dubious individuals all chasing that same gold. There is drama, excitement, action and plot intrigue but more than anything, this is a show that is pure heart. It takes every excuse to showcase and teach us the fast diminishing ancient culture of the Ainu people. The Golden Kamuy is also one of the VERY BEST buddy animes you will ever likely to see as the bond between the two main characters grows stronger with every episode. Right towards the thrilling end of series two, you get a sense that their friendship is worth more than all the lost
