Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Seishun Buta Yarō)
This series has the most ridiculous English title I’ve ever seen. But look beyond that and you’ll find an excellent teen romance drama anime with witty dialogue and some interesting fun with quantum physics.
In spite of having to understand the dialogue through subtitles, the translated banter between the two main characters is still good enough to generate many laugh out loud moment. It’s not all bants however as the more sinister theme of conforming to high school cliques and the devastation that could result by not fitting in (a worryingly common theme in a lot of Japanese anime) permeates each episode.
Mai-san, adorable but a bit of a cheek pincher |
The lead male character might seem dry at first but he opens up towards the end, especially in the final two episodes as his emotions explode in trying to deal with what happens to his much loved little sister.
Great story, fantastic animation and art quality, very likeable characters, great dialogue and with only 13 easily binge-watchable episodes, it's a must see if you like this genre.
There's a film coming out too next year which continues the story. I can't wait to see it.
